To obtain an A1 driving license, it is required that:
- You have a driver's license.
- You are a permanent resident of Sweden or have been studying here for at least six months.
- You have turned 16 years old.
- You have a valid risk education.
- You have passed an approved driving license test (knowledge test and driving test).
- You do not have a driving license from another EEA country. If you have such a driving license, it is possible to exchange it for a Swedish one.
Before the theory test
Before you can take the theory test, you must have done both parts of the compulsory risk training. The education must be valid at the time of the test.Theory test
The test consists of a total of 70 questions, but you can get a maximum of 65 points. This is because 5 of the questions are test questions, and they are not included in the test result. In order for the exam to be passed, you must answer 52 questions correctly. The test time is 50 minutes. You can choose to listen to the questions in the test if you want. The theory test measures your knowledge in the following areas:
- Vehicle knowledge and maneuvering
- Environment
- Road safety
- Traffic rules
- Personal conditions
You will find out immediately after the test whether it has passed or failed. You will also receive an email with your result. An approved theory test is valid for one year. You need to take the driving test within that time. The driving test
You are the one who must ensure that the motorcycle is in place at the time of the test. Get help from your trainer or someone else who can drive it for you to the test. You must use the same motorcycle throughout the test.Several license holders are called to the same test time for the maneuver test, which consists of several different steps. After that, driving takes place in traffic with one person at a time. You may therefore need to wait until it is your turn. Expect the sample to take most of the day, feel free to bring something to eat and drink! This is how the test works
The driving test consists of
- A security check
- A special maneuver test
- Driving in and outside urban areas.
Security check
The driving test begins with a safety check. If you discover defects in the motorcycle, you should be able to suggest measures. You must independently control the various functions. If there is any part of the control that is not possible to do yourself, ask the driver examiner for help. The maneuver test
The maneuver test consists of three parts
- A low speed part
- A high speed part
- Braking
Low speed part
At the low-speed part, crawl as slowly as you can while maintaining balance. You can provide base gas if needed, and you crawl using the clutch (similar to crawling with a car). If it goes too fast, you slow down with the help of the front brake or rear brake, you choose which one you want to use. However, you should not control the speed with the help of the brakes.High speed part
You accelerate the motorcycle to at least 50 km / h and ride at the same speed in a serpentine track. At the end of the course, slow down and turn around the last cone. After the turn, increase the speed again to 50 km / h, and drive the same way back. You then make an effective and controlled braking to a standstill with both front brake and rear brake.Braking
The maneuver test shall be completed with efficient and controlled braking from speeds of 70 km / h and 90 km / h to a standstill using both front and rear brakes. You should start braking at a predetermined location. This checks your ability to use the correct driving position, the correct braking technique and that you can stop the motorcycle as quickly as possible.Driving in and outside urban areas
While driving, communication with you takes place via radio. There are headphones on site, but feel free to bring your own that can fit under the helmet.
You must drive in and outside the urban area, towards the specified destination or along the specified route for a total of at least 25 minutes. If possible, you should drive on streets and roads under conditions with varying surface layers, road width, distance and traffic intensity.
If the driving examiner has seen any deficiencies in the special maneuver test, they must be given special attention when driving in and outside urban areas. This applies in particular to how you technically handle the vehicle. Attention must also be paid to your driving position and ability to use the correct shifting and braking techniques.Technical requirements for the motorcycle
The motorcycle must be equipped with a manual gearbox and clutch handle that must be used when starting or stopping and shifting, if the test does not concern a driving license with conditions on limitation to automatic transmission motorcycle (condition code 78).
The motorcycle must not be an emergency vehicle or have a driving ban. Taxes and insurance must be paid. It must be registered in Sweden and you must present the most recently issued registration certificate at the driving test. The motorcycle must be reliable from a safety point of view. For authorization A1, the motorcycle must at the time of the test
- Be able to drive at a speed of at least 90 km / h, and be allowed to drive at at least that speed according to the registration certificate.
- have a net power not exceeding 11 kW. If the motorcycle is propelled by an internal combustion engine, it must have a cylinder volume of not less than 120 cm3 and not more than 125 cm3, and a ratio between net power and service weight of not more than 0.1 kW / kg.
- If the motorcycle is powered by an electric motor, the ratio between net power and service weight shall be not less than 0.08 kW / kg and not more than 0.1 kW / kg.
